ACADEMIC RESEARCH

These are some highlights about my academic research. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or to collaborate.

Academic Research: Text

COGNITIVE NEUROSCIENCE

at the University of Texas at Dallas

My research interests lie within the realm of cognitive neuroscience, specifically social neuroscience. My previous projects have included a DARPA seedling grant looking at cross cultural mechanisms of deception detection. In addition, I'm currently continuing to learn about the neural mechanisms of social interactions.

Current Projects

Thanks to the pandemic, I was forced to pivot my dissertation project to focus on using online methodologies. My dissertation project will focus on understanding the role of culture in judgement of conscious and unconscious deception detection.

In addition, I help lead a group in cyber deception research examining how we can use machine learning models to create improved deception detection algorithms.

When the pandemic subsides and in-person research becomes a norm again, I hope to carry out my previous dissertation project examining the effect of neurostimulation (transcranial direct current stimulation, tDCS) on judgements of conscious and unconscious deception detection.

Lastly, I mentor undergrad and graduate students in a variety of cognitive neuroscience disciplines.
